What are you listening to these days?
I listen to a lot of audio books. The best ones I’ve listened to recently, one is a novel called “Station Eleven,” by Emily St. John Mandel. The couple I’ve listened to that I really like is “This Town” by Mark Leibovich and “The Divide” by Matt Taibbi. For music, I would say, this could be due to my age, it seems like recently I’m listening to anything between 1970 and 1978, although I would say I’m a very big Van Morrison fan. I listen to him a lot. There’s a wide range in there between all of those albums.
What are you watching on TV?
I don’t really follow any series. There’s a new show on Bloomberg TV called “With All Due Respect.” Mark Halperin and John Heilemann, they wrote books about the last two elections.
What was the last movie you saw?
It’s called “Love is Strange“ with John Lithgow and Marisa Tomei. I would say that I like movies that do not have explosions in them.
Who is one person, living or dead, you would like to meet and why?
I would probably say William Shakespeare, because of his amazing understanding of human beings and all their glory and all their everything, I guess.
Describe your dream vacation.
Every summer, my wife and I go up to Stratford, Ontario to the Stratford festival. So my dream vacation would be my wife and I to go up there for two weeks so we could see everything and stop at the Shaw Festival at Niagara-on-the-Lake.
What is your favorite local memory?
I’m from Troy and my grandparents had a camp out at a place up at Babcock Lake in Grafton. We went there every summer for the whole summer. My favorite local memories are those summers growing up at Babcock Lake down in Grafton.
What is the first thing you would do if you won the lottery?
I think I would probably make the time to read all the books that I never got to, which is a considerable amount.
What is your favorite thing about the library?
Even though the library world is changing, having access to all the books and also helping people find things. Most of our job is helping people with whatever they want to do in the library.
