Diane Deschenes
New Scotland Town Clerk
• Residence: Lifelong Voorheesville resident
What are you watching on TV?
I like “24”, because it’s suspenseful. It’s hard to find anything good on TV.
What are your favorite movies?
“Secondhand Lions” and “The Notebook”
What are some of your hobbies?
I enjoy being on my boat on the Mohawk River. I enjoy traveling through the locks and spending time with my friends. It is basically like my camp on the river.
What would your last meal be?
It’d be lobster, shrimp and a nice juicy steak.
What would your dream vacation be?
Right now my dream vacation would be to do “the loop,” which is traveling down to Florida and then all the way back up through the various canal systems.
If you could meet any person dead or alive, who would it be?
I know most people would say someone famous, but I would have to say it would be my parents.
What is your favorite local moment?
Winning my election for the first time in 1999. That was an amazing thing. At the time, the original town clerk had stepped down and I worked across the hallway in assessing and thought I could do a good job.
What is something you think people would be surprised to know about you?
I live in the same house I grew up in. My dad built the house, too. When the house was originally built they could look straight across the field, because there wasn’t Pine Street in Voorheesville.
