The number six figures prominently in the history of Sherri Paull’s Salon and Spa.
Sherri Paull started her salon in 1996 on Albermarle Road in Scotia, across from Scotia-Glenville High School. She added spa services in 2006 when the salon was located on Glenridge Road in Glenville. In 2016, she moved the salon to its current location at 105 Mohawk Road in downtown Scotia.
Through all the changes, the one constant has been Paull’s desire to help women look their best.
“It was just something I did for the art of it,” said Paull. “I’ve always had the vision of having a small spa where neighborhood women could come in and feel comfortable.”
Paull and her staff work closely with their customers to determine not only what hairstyle looks best on a person, but also what hairstyle can be best maintained by that person.
“I want the hairstyle to be realistic in order for them to maintain it for themselves at home,” said Paull.
Paull cited a recent example where a woman came into the salon with a picture of a hairstyle she wanted. Paull worked with the customer to create a hairstyle that the customer could easily replicate at home and showed her how to do it.
“Teaching her that skill was part of that whole appointment,” said Paull. “I can make it look like [the hairstyle in the picture], but can they make it look like that?”
The salon’s spa services include full body waxing, Swedish and deep tissue massages, facials, skin treatments, manicures, pedicures and aromatherapy. There are two private rooms dedicated to spa services at the salon.
