Laura Brown believes no one has to live with chronic pain.
“I want to get my hands on as many people as I can and get them to live at least a 50 percent better life,” said Brown. “Most pain, we really don’t have to live with.”
The physical therapist has her own practice called ume:urban.massage.elite., LLC based in Schenectady. She offers a wide variety of massages and therapies to help patients relieve their pain, including CBD oil massages.
“I’ve been using CBD [oil] and studying it for quite a while,” said Brown. “I did a lot of research before this became the hot topic it is now. I read all the white papers [regarding test results] and performed my own anecdotal studies before landing on a product and presenting it to the public… I tried out everything.”
Brown specializes in soft tissue manipulation and relieving orthopedic pain, but she said she wants to expand into treating neuropathic pain, which includes multiple diagnoses. “I am in the process of securing funding for a Calmare Unit, which will be a game changer for those suffering with neuropathic pain”.
“I tend to flourish in a one-on-one interaction, and I get that on a day-to-day basis” said Brown. “I have so many clients who restore my faith in people. They really are fantastic individuals, and I get to play a part in improving their quality of life. It’s really a great thing to witness and be a party to.” In part due to her experience, Brown has a network of professionals to refer to when additional specialties are needed.
Rates vary depending on the type of treatment patients are seeking. Besides CBD oil, Brown uses aroma touch therapy and hot stone therapy. Brown can treat patients in ume’s office at 1473 Erie Boulevard in Schenectady, or she has been known to go to patients’ homes for the house -bound. She also has office hours at Inspiring Wellness Solutions in Troy one day a week.
Brown’s office hours are Monday through Friday by appointment, and she offers weekend rates for those who are unable to schedule on weekdays. Appointments can be made by phone at
