NBT Bank was rated the #1 bank in New York State on Forbes 2019 World’s Best Banks list released earlier this month (www.forbes.com/worlds-best-banks). This is the first time Forbes has recognized the World’s Best Banks based solely on consumer feedback.

“This is affirmation that the best team in community banking continues to provide our customers a great experience,” said NBT Bank President and CEO John H. Watt, Jr. “NBT Bank has consistently appeared on local, regional and national ‘Best Banks’ lists, including 2018 recognitions by Consumer Reports as the top bank in New York and by MONEY Magazine as the best bank in New England. Our entire team of 1,900 employees is incredibly proud.”

NBT ranked #14 overall in the United States on the 2019 World’s Best Banks list, and is the top-ranked bank in Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine and Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Forbes surveyed more than 40,000 customers around the globe for opinions on their banking relationships. The banks were rated on overall recommendation and satisfaction, as well as trust, terms and conditions, customer services, digital services and financial advice.

Beyond customers’ evaluation of the basic products, services, terms and conditions, some of the interesting factors that influenced customers opinions and preferences in these surveys include the types and availability of digital services, the quality of financial advice, trust in the bank, and their relationships with bank employees.

“This is certainly indicative of the growing trend we’ve seen across our footprint of customers wanting more self-service options, a more convenient one-stop shop, and more a conversational environment for financial discussions,” said NBT Bank Regional President David Krupski. “We offer all the products, services and resources of a larger bank, while still maintaining personal relationships and local involvement as a true community bank.”

NBT Bank has completed several “modern digital” branch renovations across its six-state footprint—including its Wolf Road branch in Albany—and they have received positive feedback from both customers and employees.

NBT Bank offers personal banking, business banking and wealth management services from locations in six states, including New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine. The bank and its parent company, NBT Bancorp, are headquartered in Norwich, NY. NBT Bancorp had assets of $9.6 billion as of December 31, 2018 and is traded on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the symbol NBTB. More information about NBT is available online at www.nbtbank.com. Member FDIC.
