For more than 20 years, Mike and Sons’ Pest Control has been serving the Capital Region when mice, ants, termites and other critters appear in people’s homes.

“The main goal is to make sure the customer’s pests are removed,” said Mark Deso. “Once we have identified the pests, we match the proper solution to remove the pests.”

Mark is one of the three sons that form the core of Mike and Sons’ Pest Control. Mark’s stepfather, Mike McManus, recently retired after running the company since it was founded in 1998.

“My brother and I kind of grew up around it,” said Deso. “Our brother-in-law is also part of the company, so he would be the third son.”

Recently, they hired a military veteran to join their team, which carries on another family tradition.

“Our whole family has been involved with the military, so it’s good to pass that along, too,” said Deso.

Deso said he expects he and his team will be busy as the weather continues to warm up through the spring.

“We’re headed into ant season, so you’re going to see carpenter ants and a lot of house ants, like sugar ants,” said Deso. “Carpenter bees start becoming popular in late spring and summer.”

Mike and Sons’ approach to removing pests involves using products that are specifically geared toward the elimination of a particular species, while not affecting the people and pets who live in the home.

“The science behind the chemicals is pointed more towards the pests,” said Deso.

Mike and Sons’ Pest Control specializes in mice, rats, ants, flies, bees, wasps, hornets, roaches, bed bugs, fleas, stink bugs and nuisance wildlife, such as raccoons and possums. To set up an appointment or for more information, call 518-218-1080.
