GLENMONT — Twist’N Flip Gymnastics, a Capital District children’s gymnastics center, wants to inspire young ones that learning balance, strength, coordination and flexibility can be exhilarating by picking up the sport.
Twist’N Flip has three locations across the Capital District in Colonie, Rotterdam and Glenmont, and is owned by Ron and Jodi Barnes of Middleburgh, where their business began over 10 years ago. Twist’N Flip offers accommodating numerous gymnastics programs of all levels and a preschool academy which teaches children aged three to five. The latter contains one hour of gymnastics instruction and 90 minutes of hands-on education concerning art, math, English, and the senses via interactive games and activities.
The Twist’N Flip Glenmont location, on 241 Route 9W, specifically offers a popular Ninja Program which involves “military style obstacle courses to develop strength and speed, gymnastics tumbling, and ‘Ninja’ style moves,” according to its website. Here, children can also learn to be self-confident and stay physically active. There are several class options throughout the week and on Saturdays, followed by their popular monthly Ninja Challenge.
The Glenmont branch also offers other programs for children, including trampoline, tumbling, and further age-appropriate obstacle courses. Most courses are divided by age groups: “Little Stars” for ages 3 to 4, “Rising Stars” for ages 4 to 5, and “Shooting, Stars, Shining Stars, Super Stars” for ages 5.5 and upwards. As the child progresses, they continue improving their motor, communication and social interaction skills.
Twist’N Flip also features Parents’ Night Out where children play, enjoy obstacle courses and enjoy pizza for two hours while parents can have a date night; and two types of birthday party events, which last up to two hours and come in a Gold and Silver Package.
