ALBANY — Mental health is a never ending personal journey. Pinnacle Behavioral Health, IPA, LLC a certified woman’s owned practice since 2001, wants to help you on this journey by offering a program that is tailored to your needs.
Pinnacle is an IPA comprised of independent practitioners who believe that the combination of medication management and counseling is the foundation of good psychiatric care. However, Pinnacle continues to take this concept one step further by highlighting the importance of a holistic mind-body approach by offering a variety of treatment options. Natural treatments have the power to enhance your overall well-being.
“We offer Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Yoga, Somatics and Mindfulness Group as complementary services,” Pinnacle’s Director of Operations, Rocco Pezzulo, said. “We realize with mental health, one size does not fit all, so we offer a variety of ancillary services.”
“Our instructors have each been trained in a variety of practices which each help you realize how each of your movements affect your body and what it will help,” Pezzulo said. “We are able to tell you how a pose will open your heart chakras, which are often what suffers when a person is dealing with depression.”
Anyone can use the classes offered — a close to home, affordable option for those who might be intimidated by bigger yoga studios. Instructors are both clinicians and/or community members with a wealth of experience specialize in how each class can improve various diagnoses.
Offering a multitude of services at one location, Pinnacle is able to offer patients a wide variety of resources which will help them in achieving their goals. Pinnacle is a vast network with the extensive resources you need to improve your day to day quality of life.
Pezzulo stated that Pinnacle is adding a new practice to its program as of February 2019 called Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS).
TMS is a treatment used to treat depression. It is noninvasive and does not use medications, but rather stimulates the brain itself, rather than the person.
“This treatment sends magnetic energy to the parts of the brain showing depression,” Pezzulo explained. “Usually in about 20 sessions 30 minutes each, the stimulation targets the part of the brain that controls mood relieving the patient’s depressive symptoms. The end goal is to improve the patient’s everyday ability to function.”
“We want people to face those challenging mornings, challenging nights or overall challenging days with positivity and the ability to look at it as a new opportunity to participate in our lives,” Pezzulo concluded. “We are wired to be alert for the next danger we see. Instead of waking up or going to bed with worry, we want to assist you acknowledge the dangers but also see the possibilities.”
