Bethlehem Police arrested Shane J. F. Young, who listed his address as homeless, with a last known address of New Hampshire, for allegedly burgling a residence in Glenmont on Sunday, Jan. 24.
Young allegedly stole food and other property from inside the residence after entering the residence through a rear door. Police said neighbors had seen a man acting suspiciously in the area of the home at the time it was broken into.
The next day, police responded to a report of a suspicious person on River Road in Glenmont, whose appearance matched the description of the burglary suspect from the previous day.
Upon police arrival, Young reportedly fled into a wooded area with rugged terrain near the Hudson River. Police said their investigations determined Young had been residing in the wooded area on River Road for an unknown period of time.
The suspect was located and arraigned in Bethlehem Town Court and remanded to Albany County Jail without bail. He is scheduled to reappear in court on Jan. 27.
Bethlehem Police were assisted by Albany County Sherriff’s Department K-9 unit in this investigation.
Anyone who has recently had contact with Young or observed him in the area is asked to contact Bethlehem Police at (518) 439-9973.
