BETHLEHEM – Bethlehem Police arrested Damian J. Perez, 28, of Selkirk in reference to a series of thefts committed at the CDTA Park and Ride parking lot in Delmar, in early November.
Perez allegedly removed catalytic converters from multiple parked vehicles, thus causing damage and making the vehicles inoperable.
Police said the Perez later sold the converters at a local scrap yard.
Perez was arrested on Thursday, Dec. 31, while driving in Selkirk, and charged with one felony count of auto stripping in the second degree and one misdemeanor count of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree, as well as two violations of vehicle and traffic law.
Perez was arraigned in Bethlehem Town Court and remanded to Albany County Jail in lieu of $7,500 bail. He is scheduled to reappear in court on Jan. 5.
