On Tuesday, Sept. 2, the New York State Police based in Schodack were involved in a joint investigation with the East Greenbush Police Department resulting in the arrest of Steven J. Vanalystyne, 51 of Voorheesville, on several counts of criminal sex act in the second and third degree, forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child.

Vanalstyne is alleged to have had inappropriate sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl over a 2½ year period. The incidents occurred at several locations in the Capital District, including towns in Albany, Saratoga and Rensselaer counties. Vanalstyne was arraigned before the Town of East Greenbush court and released on bail. If anyone has any information or has had inappropriate contact with Vanalstyne, they are urged to contact the New York State Police BCI in Schodack at (518) 732-4644.
