Albany County Sheriff’s deputies stopped a vehicle for traffic infractions and allegedly discovered a gun and drugs, according to police reports.
Police on Wednesday, April 2, stopped Walt M. Daminger, 28, of 553 Higley Hill Road in Wilmington, Vt., and learned his driver’s license was suspended. The passenger in his vehicle was Valentina M. Centra, 31, of 37 Ontario St. in Albany.
There allegedly was a loaded Smith and Wesson 9mm semi-automatic handgun and a “small quantity” of marijuana and hashish inside the vehicle, according to police.
Daminger was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a felony, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, unlawful possession of marijuana and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree.
Centra was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, both felonies, and unlawful possession of marijuana.
Both were arraigned in Guilderland Town Court and remanded to county jail, with bail set at $30,000 for Daminger and $25,000 for Centra. Both were scheduled to reappear in Town Court on Thursday, April 3, for a preliminary hearing.
