The Bethlehem Police Department has arrested an Albany man for the bank robbery that occurred at the Citizens Bank on Delaware Avenue in Delmar on Tuesday, Jan, 14.
Police arrested Darriel Murray, 21, of Liebel Street, Albany on Thursday, Jan, 23. He was arrested after Bethlehem Police Detectives received information Murray was allegedly attempting to exchange dyed money at the SEFCU Bank in Albany.
Police said Murray, allegedly armed with a handgun, approached the teller at Citizens Bank last Tuesday and demanded money, according to police. After the teller complied with the demand, the suspect allegedly fled out the front door with an undisclosed amount of cash.
With the assistance of Albany Police Department’s CIU, search warrants were executed at Murray’s residence and on his vehicle where a substantial amount of evidence was seized. Murray was charged with Robbery in the first degree, Grand Larceny in the fourth degree, both felonies and Criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree, a misdemeanor.
Murray was arraigned in Bethlehem Town Court by Judge Andrew Kirby and remanded to the Albany County Jail without bail. Murray is scheduled to return to Bethlehem Town Court on Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at 5:30PM for a Preliminary Hearing.
