Colonie police are looking into four burglaries they say appear to be related.
Police say the burglaries occurred in the area of Old Niskayuna Road and Osborne Road and were reported on June 12, July 22, July 23 and July 24. In each instance, the homes were entered overnight and primarily jewelry and cash were stolen. In two instances, the residents were home but did not discover the burglary until the morning, police said.
Two of the burglaries were on Old Niskayuna Road, one was on Hills Road and one was on Locust Lane. The houses were entered through unlocked doors or windows with little or no damage done to property to obtain entry, police said.
Colonie police asked anyone with information on the incidents or who may have observed suspicious activity in the area to call police at 783-2744. Police also reminded homeowners to take precautions such as locking all doors and windows, activating alarms, leaving exterior lights on and paying extra attention to suspicious vehicles or persons.
