Coeymans police have arrested a 20-year-old man who allegedly forced a 14-year-old girl “to perform sexual acts” at knifepoint.
Police charged John Deyo, of Ravena, with criminal sex act in the third degree, a felony, and the misdemeanors of two counts of menacing in the second degree and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Police said the victim had reported the incident to a friend’s parents, who took her to the police. It is alleged Deyo had asked a 15-year-old to threaten a witness with the same knife used in the incident, then directly threatened the witness himself with the knife.
Coeymans Police Chief Gregory Darlington said the incident did not involve intercourse, and that the alleged victim knew Deyo. He said other charges may be filed, but police do not think there are any other victims.
Deyo was arraigned in the Village of Ravena Court and remanded to the Albany County jail without bail. He was scheduled to return to court for a felony preliminary hearing on Tuesday, June 25.
