A Bethlehem teen was arrested following the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Albany for allegedly punching an officer in the face, while police worked to break up a fight.
On Saturday, March 16, police arrested Clint Junco, 18, of Delmar, for allegedly lunging at and striking an on-duty police officer in the face with a closed fist, said police.
Beat officers assigned to parade security were said to have observed a fight in the area of Washington Avenue and Swan Street between several people and responded to the scene around 4 p.m.
Junco was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and assaulting an officer. Najee Bennett, 17, of Bethlehem, was also arrested for allegedly taking part in the fight, said police. He was charged with disorderly conduct `for engaging in tumultuous behavior.`
Police said the fight began after the parade had ended and the crowd watching the fight was quickly dispersed.
