An Albany man was arrested for allegedly torturing and injuring four dogs, Colonie Police said.
Police received a call from the Super 8 Motel at 1579 Central Ave. saying it looked like there were dogs locked in the cargo area of a U-Haul truck in the motel parking lot on Saturday, Jan. 26. Four emaciated dogs were found in the truck, police said. Colonie Animal Control was called and the dogs were brought to the Capital District Animal Emergency Clinic on Route 2 in Latham for treatment and evaluation. Colonie Lt. Robert Winn confirmed that the man, Anthony Walker, is the same person who was charged on Jan. 14 with leaving three pit bull puppies emaciated and injured on railroad tracks in Albany last year. Walker was charged with abandonment of a disabled animal in that case. Police charged Walker, of 105 Mt. Hope Dr. in Albany, with Agriculture and Market law 353, overdriving, torturing and injuring animals and failure to provide proper substance. He was arraigned and remanded to Albany County Correctional Facility. The investigation is ongoing.
