Police have arrested two people in connection with a string on burglaries from around the Capital District after the pair allegedly broke into a Selkirk home.
Bethlehem police arrested Aaron Shoemaker, 29, of Troy and Lindsey Rich, 28, of West Sand Lake, on Sunday, Oct. 21. A Selkirk woman had called police around 12:15 p.m., reporting that two people had entered her home, but fled once they were confronted.
Shoemaker was charged with burglary in the second degree, criminal mischief in the third degree, conspiracy in the fourth degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument, possession of burglary tools and false personation. He was also wanted on an active warrant from Rensselaer County for violating drug court. Rich was charged with burglary in the second degree, criminal mischief in the third degree, conspiracy in the fourth degree and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.
Police believe Shoemaker and Rich are responsible for multiple burglaries in Albany and Rensselaer counties. Several police department’s are now working together on a joint investigation of the incidents.
Both Shoemaker and Rich were arraigned in Bethlehem Town Court and remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility. They will appear in court again at a later date.
