A 17-year-old from Watervliet will spend the next seven years in state prison for his role in a series of home invasion burglaries in the City of Watervliet, according to Albany County District Attorney David Soares’ office.
Soares announced on Wednesday, July 25, that Ian Neely was sentenced to seven years in state prison plus three years of post-release supervision after he plead guilty to one count of attempted burglary in the second degree, a felony.
According to information from Soares’ office, on three separate dates in January 2012, Neely broke into houses throughout the city, either through an unlocked door or by throwing an object through a window to gain access to a back door, and stole electronics. Soares said Neely confessed to each of the burglaries and was also captured on video right outside the site of the last burglary.
