An overturned trailer closed I-890 for two hours and resulted in a minor spill of hydraulic fluid, according to police. A commercial vehicle registered to East Greenbush-based Precision Directional Drilling flipped over on the highway on Sunday, June 24, at approximately 6:41 p.m., according to police. The vehicle was towing a “large equipment trailer,” said police, carrying a directional boring machine. The road was closed for two hours as a tow crew from Pro-Motion Recovery returned the trailer upright and removed the boring machine from the roadway. Also, there was a “minor spill” of hydraulic fluid, said police, which was contained by the Schenectady County Hasmat Team and Carmen Fire Department. New York State Department of Transportation officials were on scene to inspect the roadway for any damage related to the incident. The Rotterdam Police Department is investigating the property damage auto accident, with assistance by the State Police DOT Enforcement. The Schenectady Police Department assisted with the road closure.
