A Latham man was arrested after trying to smuggle drugs into prison, according to Albany County Sheriff’s Office.
Elliot Vasquez, 44, of 315 Colonie St. was charged with promoting prison contraband in the first degree, a felony, and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor, after he was found with a hypodermic needle and a quantity of heroin hidden in his sneaker while being processed into Albany County Correctional Facility for a parole violation, according to the sheriff’s office.
Vasquez was arraigned in the Town of Colonie court and remanded back to jail without bail.
