RCS School Board President John Vadney was arrested on Saturday, May 26 and charged with aggravated harassment, according to the Albany County District Attorney’s Office.
Specific details have not been released but an altercation apparently arose between Vadney and Joseph E. Tracey, the father of RCS School Board Vice President Josephine O’Connor. Joseph Tracey was also arrested the same day and charged with aggravated harassment, a misdemeanor, according to District Attorney’s Office.
Vadney was issued an appearance ticket and will be arraigned in Ravena Village Court on Wednesday, June 13. Tracey will be arraigned in Bethlehem Town Court on Tuesday, June 19, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
`While this charge is disturbing if true, and the situation may be unsettling to the RCS community, it is important to remember that it is only an allegation at this time. The district will remain apprised of the situation as the investigation unfolds, but no action will be taken by the board until the appropriate legal process has played out,` said RCS Superintendent Elisabeth Smith in a statement.
