The Halfmoon man who stabbed a man in the parking lot of a Colonie restaurant on Christmas Eve 2010 was sentenced to 7 1/2 years in State Prison plus three years of post release supervision in Albany County Court on Wednesday, May 30, according to Albany County District Attorney David Soares.
Norberto Hernandez, 31, was found guilty after a non-jury trial of one count of assault in the first degree, a violent felony, and one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor, on April 10.
Hernandez used a knife to stab and slash a male victim in the head and torso numerous times during the attack, causing `serious physical injury,` according to Soares’ office. The attack occurred in the parking lot of 1343 Central Ave., which at the time was Pancho’s Restaurant. According to information from Soares’ office, Hernandez knew the victim through a `dating relationship` with his ex-wife, who worked at the restaurant.
