A late night accident on I-787 in the City of Albany on Friday, May 11, led to the arrests of three people, according to State Police.
Around 11:57 p.m. troopers responded to a report of an automobile accident with a vehicle blocking traffic on I-787 and an investigation revealed that a 2005 Ford struck the guide rails numerous times before coming to rest in the middle of the north bound lanes, said police. Three other north bound vehicles, including a motorcycle, collided as a result of drivers taking `evasive action` to avoid the disabled vehicle, said police. The motorcyclist was injured and transported to Albany Medical Center, said police.
Troopers discovered the 2005 Ford had been reported stolen from the City of Troy on May 8 and the driver, Ernest Pinsinneault Jr., 17, of Troy, fled the accident with two passengers, Lawrence Newell and Calvin Milligan, both 16, of Troy, said police, before being apprehended about a mile north of the scene.
Pinsinneault was charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and moved from lane unsafely, according to police.
Newell and Milligan were charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree and were treated and released from Albany Memorial Hospital for minor injuries sustained in the crash, said police.
