A bus driver was arrested after leaving a 3-year-old child unattended for nearly three hours on a day when temperatures topped 90 degrees, according to State Police reports.
Eric Ramm, 31, of Cohoes, the bus driver, and Thomas Kottackal, 59, of Albany, a monitor, were arrested on Tuesday, April 17, and charged with endangering the welfare of a child, according to police reports.
According to police, the bus dropped several students off at Capital District Beginnings in Berlin around 9 a.m. Monday, April 16, but a 3-year-old child did not get off the bus and was not noticed by Ramm or Kottackal. The bus sat in a lot in Menands from 10 a.m. until about 12:45 p.m. when Kottackal returned to the bus and noticed the child strapped in her car seat, according to police.
The child was treated for mild dehydration at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, said police.
