Two inmates at the Albany County Correctional Facility have been charged with promoting prison contraband.
Deputies say Tara Kirker, 30, of 16 Equinox Court, Delmar was seen by staff at the facility using a hypodermic needle. Kirker is accused of entering the facility with the needle hidden in a private area. She is charged with possessing dangerous prison contraband in the first degree, a felony.
Sheriff’s deputies say staff at the facility also found two packs of cigarettes, along with a bottle of alcohol, inside a visitor’s bathroom. Michael Mink, 34, of 59 Osborne Road, Albany, is accused of arranging for a visitor to drop off the contraband inside the bathroom. Mink was apprehended after he tried to bring the items into the secure portion of the facility. He is charged with possessing prison contraband in the second degree, a misdemeanor.
