GLENVILLE — Is there anyone who likes being pushed into the purchase of a diamond ring?
Since Dennis Mahoney took ownership of Brittany Jewelers in Glenville almost two years ago, he has shaped the local store into his ideal vision of a friendlier environment for customers.
“I try to create a really strong buying environment for every budget,” said Mahoney. It’s a laid back approach he said is intended to keep customers comfortable enough to stay and shop without the hassle of being pushed into a purchase. Under the display case, next to much of the jewelry, sits the price tag. There is no need to stop and wait for a representative to reveal that. Mahoney offers the same transparency when dealing with diamonds. He sells his diamonds at cost, and he’ll show you his invoice. “People hate to ask what the price is, and people hate a car salesman.”
Overall, his goal is to provide an upbeat and modern shopping experience for customers, one that doesn’t intimidate.
“Literally, they come in and I’ll say, ‘If you need anything, just let me know,’” said Mahoney. “I just leave them be, and they love that. … Everybody has a good time when they come in.”
Brittany Jewelers is located at 115 Saratoga Road in Glenville.
