CAPITAL DISTRICT — Radiance Hot Yoga made its mark in the Capital District at Glenmont Plaza in 2015 as an upscale studio that holds firm to the true purpose and nature of yoga, emphasizing both strength of body and mind.
This winter, owners Boaz Alperson and Leah Johnson opened their second location at The Shoppes at Newton Plaza in Latham.
Radiance Hot Yoga was born out of passion for yoga Boaz Alperson did not expect to develop. He went to his first yoga class with Johnson, expecting an easy workout with little benefit. His first class, a Bikram class, ended with Boaz, “lying on the floor, exhausted as much as I was during my days in basic training.” Afterwards, he found an irritating back pain had vanished, and he slept like he hadn’t in years.
Alperson kept going back. As he continued to practice, he became more and more serious about yoga, and became intent to start his own studio: “I wanted to share this amazing gift with as many people as I could; to try to be of service to people and bring something good to others.” Fast forward a couple of years and Alperson is now 500 RYT certified and managing two studios where he loves to practice.
The studio is a beautiful space with state of the art ventilation and heating systems to further enhance the practitioners experience. The studio’s class schedule includes a variety of practices to build strength, increase range of motion, and quiet the mind. Together with their experienced instructors, they offer Barkan, Bikram, and Vinyasa Flow class. Recent additions of BarreFlow and Hot HIIT classes give even more selection to both loyal and new practitioners.
