Nine Pin Cider, New York’s first farm cidery, will host its third annual Pressing Party tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 12 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at their downtown Albany cidery, located at 929 Broadway in Albany.
The main event will be the pressing of the 2016 Cider Monster, a specialty style of cider made of more than 100 varieties of New York apples—which Nine Pin believes may set the record for the number of apple varieties in one cider.
The Pressing Party will include local vendors offering a variety of press-themed goods, food and services, including: panini presses from Sweet Mama Mia, french pressed coffee, grilled cheese presses from Mad Cheezy, body presses through massages from Albany Massage, letter pressing Nine Pin coasters, T-Shirt pressing from Troy Cloth & Paper, an apple jug bench press competition sponsored by North Albany’s CrossFit Beyond, aeropressed coffee from Stacks Espresso Bar, and more. Winner of the bench press competition will receive a Nine Pin gift basket and a one month free membership to Cross Fit Beyond.
Live original music will be provided by The Sacandaga String Band and The Other Brothers, and 102.7 WEQX – The REAL Alternative will do a live broadcast from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Mayor Kathy M. Sheehan will be in attendance for the third consecutive year and, at around 1 p.m., will press cider from the wooden apple press being used for the Cider Monster.
Tickets can be purchased via Eventbrite or at the door, and a discount will be available for U.S. military veterans and active duty personnel on the day of the event.
