SOB WEB LOGOCAPITAL DISTRICT — Merriman and Pfister’s Marketplace is dedicated to shining a spotlight on the talent that abounds in your community and beyond. They’re committed to helping to foster creative spirits and intent on becoming good community members.

At the gift shop, they offer an eclectic mix of handmade artisanal creations.  Displayed on the shelves are jewelry, pottery, mosaics, fine woodcrafts, and toys.  Hanging on the walls are quilts, paintings, framed pewter art, and clocks, textiles, stained glass, flags, and patents.  We have vases, ties, scarves, blankets, blown glass, garden accessories, and baby things.  You’ll find candles, mobiles, purses, books, house wares, safe cosmetics and oils.

At M&P, they try to engage the community by showcasing an artist each month and informing the public about them and their works, throwing in a 15% discount off their wares for the month—just for fun.  They also hold monthly events, such as their Meet the Artists Wine and Cheese Evenings, or Pumpkin Carving or Sidewalk Chalk Art Contests.  There have been Beautycounter cosmetics demonstrations, and an interactive evening using essential oils and bio-energy with Ruth Ann Smalley.  M&P has even held two “Community Showings” where their shelves are opened to make room for YOUR creations.  They say that they hope to pursue an idea for a street craft fair in town at some point, too.

At M&P, their aim is to become strong enough to expand their product line and healthy enough to remain active in the local community.

Of course, they hope customers will come in to shop, but say that they are just as pleased to have them browse through the store, proceeding slowly as they take in the colors, the fragrances, and the whimsy and inventiveness of each artist. Linger, they say, and enjoying being surrounded by beauty. No purchase necessary.
