Getting luxury treatment isn’t an indulgent expense at Ando Hair Salon, where affordability and elegance are weaved together.
Tony Petitti opened his second hair salon last October in Slingerlands, which is a state of the art facility offering a modern, relaxing environment. Ever since high school, Petitti has been passionate about hair styling and helping people look their best. He took over his uncle’s business in 1986, opening his first Ando Salon in Troy.
The Slingerlands location continues his client-focused approach with the look and feel of an upscale salon, without the upscale pricing.
“I wanted a place where people could come into a salon and feel like they’re at home and not feel like a number,” said Petitti. “When you come into my salon, everyone will talk to you and treat you well.”
Ando Salon is a Wella and Paul Mitchell signature salon providing a variety of hair and waxing services. Alongside haircuts and coloring, Ando has a certified Dream Catchers hair extension specialist with more than 20 years of experience. The salon also recently began offering Alluring eyelash extensions with certified eyelash specialist.
“I don’t just cut hair,” Petitti said, “I make people look better, and we have a nice, warm atmosphere here.”
He said the environment of his salon and quality of services offered sets him apart from other businesses. He also makes sure people don’t feel like just a number and are valued.
Petitti provides ongoing education to his staff about services and product, along with changes in the beauty industry, so clients can make informed decisions. Free consultation is provided for all services.
Being a part of the community is important to Petitti. The salon works with many charitable organizations, as well as local school sport teams.
“We like to get involved with epilepsy because nothing has been heard,” he said. “One thing people don’t talk about is epilepsy.”
Petitti is a foster parent through Northeast Parent & Child Society. He is in the process of trying to adopt two foster children he’s welcomed into his family.
Petitti was one of four children his single mother, Virginia, raised in Rotterdam. His uncle, Michael Pugliatti, was always like a father figure to him. After Petitti got his cosmetologist license he started work under his uncle’s guidance at Nino and Michael’s Unisex Salon.
