M & T Helping Hands, LLC, owners, Michelle Kavanaugh and Terri Fish, will greet their two year anniversary of service to seniors this March. Some of the most meaningful moments for the M & T staff come when they receive letters of recommendation and appreciation such as this:
“A good friend recommended M and T about a year ago. I needed to change from the agency I had hired to help with my Mom. What a difference M and T has made.
My mom is in a wheelchair – but has been since she was 21. Now 83, she has cancer, and can be in significant pain, sometimes feeling well, many times not. She has a service dog and many quirks as all of us do. M and T flows with it all, providing loving care- tending to Mom of course- but also to the dog. The M and T helpers bring my Mom to doctor appointments (complete with service dog), shop, anticipate household needs, help with phone calls and arrangements, but best of all provide companionship. M and T works about 15-20 hours a week for us now, including weekends. My Mom is genuinely fond of her helpers, and they are fond of her.
It is not easy to balance what I need them to do for my mom (I live with my Mom part time and work full time) with the sometimes conflicting messages she gives them. It continues to be a learning process for us all. M and T is always available to me and my siblings – we continually email and telephone to make sure everything is going well. Adjustments are made as needed.
I appreciate every effort M and T makes to make sure our needs are met. I can depend on M and T – to be on time, to act responsibly in an emergency and generally take good care of my Mom.”
M & T Helping Hands continues to grow in their Non-Medical service to clients, both in their homes, as well as in Senior Housing. Their many services include: Preparing meals, grocery shopping companionship, transporting to medical appointments, social events and religious services. Every client is presented with an individual plan which is created personally between the client and the “M & T” owners. M & T Helping Hands protects each person they serve by being Bonded and Insured.
The owners of this small business understand that the needs of their senior clients differ from one person to another. While some may require more care, there are many that maintain a very social calendar and fully enjoy their golden years. The service to this group includes taking care of those life details that can be seen as a time hindrance to precious retirement years.
