COLONIE — Police have identified the man struck by a vehicle while crossing Central Avenue on Monday, Jan. 24.
A family member positively identified David Madden, 31, of Schenectady, and has contacted Albany Medical Center Hospital, said Lt. Robert Donnelly.
The man was hit at around 7:59 p.m. while crossing Central Avenue near the Dollar Store. He did not have any papers of identification on him and he has not regained consciousness. He remains in critical condition at Albany Med.
The driver immediately stopped and called 911.
Police released a screen shot of his photo from his cell phone on its social media platforms and to media outlets, including the Spotlight.
The Colonie Traffic Division received numerous calls from the public after people saw the picture that was sent out with the press release and was posted on the department Facebook page as well as broadcasted by local media networks,” Donnelly said. “The Colonie Police Department would like to thank all the members of the public who took the time to provide information on this incident.”
