Dear Friends,
In these challenging, turbulent times, we at the Albany Symphony want to share our music as broadly as possible to bring comfort to our friends and our entire community.
For that reason, I want to invite you to enjoy this week’s Albany Symphony Virtual Concert Hall performance for FREE.
The concert features Jessie Montgomery’s “Banner,” an inspiring fantasy on our National Anthem and the idea of shared anthems. Also on the program, George Walker’s haunting “Lyric for Strings;” a gorgeous recent work by Caroline Shaw; Jean Sibelius’ Andante Festivo; and Tchaikovsky’s glorious “Serenade for Strings.”
I would like to thank our subscribers for allowing us to present this concert to everyone. Their commitment to the Albany Symphony has made our Virtual Concert Hall possible.
Please join me and our brilliant Albany Symphony musicians this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. (pre-concert talk begins at 7 p.m.). And please share this link with your friends. The more of us that listen together, the more powerful our music becomes.
Wishing you a healthy, happy New Year,
David
