COLONIE — Most years, when there is not a global pandemic running rampant, fire departments across town host Santa in various forms so children still blessed with the belief can convey their wish list.
This year, though, with COVID restrictions and precautions preventing gatherings of any significance, some of the departments loaded St. Nick on fire apparatus and took him on the road to visit the district’s children.
The Village of Colonie Fire Department has been taking Santa on annual road trips for years and this year it was joined by Latham — which had two Santas cavorting through its district — Verdoy, Shaker Road-Loudonville and others.
