COLONIE — Police confiscated the 14th illegal handgun this year after a traffic stop on Sunday, July 25.
According to Lt. Robert Winn, at around 12:30 a.m., Sgt. Raymond Milham stopped a 2006 Honda on Wolf Road after seeing the driver commit a number of traffic infractions.

The driver, 42-year-old Joseph Williams, of Albany, was allegedly in possession of a stolen 9mm Smith and Wesson handgun, 7.6 grams of cocaine and a small amount of marijuana.
The handgun was reported stolen to the New Haven Connecticut Police Department.
“This is the 14th arrest made by the Colonie Police Department for possession of an illegal firearm in 2020 and hopefully has prevented another act of gun violence in our community,” Winn said.
Williams is charged with the felonies of criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a controlled substance as well as the violation of unlawful possession of marijuana and the traffic infractions of unsafe lane change, failure to signal and driving with an obstructed license plate.
He was sent to the Albany County jail pending arraignment.
