NEW SCOTLAND — A lit firework was thrown into the home of a Sheriff’s Department employee while he was sitting on the couch, watching TV with his wife and 4-year-old daughter.
According to Sheriff Craig Apple, on Saturday, June 27 at around 10:15 p.m., an individual or individuals opened the front door of the Crow Ridge Road home and tossed in the lit firework. It exploded at the trio’s feet and lit the area rug on fire. The couple extinguished the carpet with a pillow before it could cause more damage.
No injuries were reported.
It is not known if the employee was targeted or if it was a random act.
