COLONIE — Don’t fret if you have not gotten your absentee ballot in for school budget/school board votes by tonight’s 9 p.m. deadline.
Given issues with the mandated absentee ballot process — namely some districts having difficulties getting the proper envelopes to mail the ballots – Gov. Andrew Cuomo extended the deadline by a week to June 16 at 9 p.m.
North Colonie was having trouble getting the ballots to all eligible voters so it set up boxes at the entranceways of all the schools so people could drop off ballots prior to the earlier deadline. As per the governor’s new executive order, those boxes will be removed and no longer accepted in person. Any ballots cast after June 9 will have to be received by the district by June 16 to count.
North Colonie residents can address questions to the district clerk at [email protected] or by calling (518) 785-8591, ext. 3126.
Residents who were not mailed an absentee ballot in South Colonie can contact the district office at (518) 869-3576 or sending an e-mail to: [email protected]
