The National Weather Service warns of possible severe thunderstorms, with damaging wind and hail for the Capital District today, Friday, May 15.
“Strong to severe thunderstorms capable of damaging winds and hail are possible this afternoon into this evening. An isolated tornado is also possible,” states the report. Scattered storms are possible between 1 and 5 p.m. this afternoon.
The weather service states that the strongest threat for storms, however, is expected between 5 and 10 p.m. this evening. Damaging wind with gusts as high as 58 mph is expected. The storm is capable of producing a tornado, along with heavy rain and hail up to an inch in diameter.
A Hazardous Weather Outlook has been issued for eastern New York except for the southern Adirondacks, northern Warren and northern Washington counties, southern Vermont, western Massachusetts, and northwest Connecticut.
