ALBANY — Two more residents of Shaker Place, the county’s nursing home, died Sunday to Monday, bringing the total number of countywide fatalities to 49.
A man in his 90s and a woman in her 70s, both with underlying health issues, were the fourth and fifth residents of the nursing home.
All but two of the 49 fatalities were older than 60 years old and all but one had underlying health issues.
“At these difficult times regardless of the time and regardless of the situation it is never easy,” said County Executive Dan McCoy.
As of Monday, there were 1,224 confirmed cases in Albany County, up 25 from Sunday, with 1,101 under mandatory quarantine, down 10, and four under precautionary quarantine, down six.
In all there have been 621 who have recovered, or more than half.
As of Monday, there were 32 residents hospitalized for a rate of 2.6 percent, with seven in the ICU.
Albany County has by far tested more than any other county in the Capital District and as the number of tests increase so do the number of positive cases.
