COLONIE — Police are investigating a fatal gunshot at the Days Inn on Central Avenue.
It is not yet clear whether the shot was self-inflicted.
Police were called to the scene at around 12:13 p.m. on Sunday, April 12. Officers found a 29-year-old man in room 337 with a gunshot wound to his groin area.
The offices rendered first aid until Colonie EMS arrived, but the man died shortly thereafter.
Several people associated with the victim are being interviewed and a search warrant is being executed on the room. There is no indication that there is any danger to the public nor any additional pertinent information to pass on to the public, said Lt. Robert Winn.
The male victim had been staying at the motel since the middle of March and his identity will be released once all next of kin notifications are made.
