A New Scotland man and woman were arrested on drug and weapon charges after sheriff deputies spotted them sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot of a closed business.
According to Sheriff Craig Apple, on Monday April 6 at around 12:43 a.m., while interviewing the couple deputies noticed several open containers of alcohol. A drug detection K-9 also alerted deputies to the presence of illegal narcotics in the vehicle.
During a subsequent search, deputies found a 357 Magnum revolver with a defaced serial number in addition to crack cocaine, prescription pills, a scale and drug paraphernalia.
Husein Omeragic, 39, was arrested and charged with three felonies of criminal possession of a weapon and the misdemeanor of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Christie Valenti, 38, was arrested and charged with a felony criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor of criminal possession of a controlled substance as well as several violations.
They were sent to the Albany County jail pending arraignment.
