COLONIE — Reel Seafood, a staple on Wolf Road since 1983, unceremoniously closed its doors at the end of business on Saturday, Jan. 18.
“The Reel Seafood Company wishes to thank you, the customer, for your many years of support and dedication. Your support over the years is the reason Reel Seafood was the most highly regarded seafood restaurant in the Capital Region,” states a message on the company’s website. “The decision to close our wonderful and iconic restaurant was a very difficult one and not one entered into lightly. We are committed to assisting each and every one of our loyal and dedicated employees to find employment.”
The note stated gift cards can be redeemed by mailing a note to Reel Seafood Co. PO Box 5529, Albany NY, 12205 with name, phone number and email address. A check will be mailed to cover the value of the outstanding gift card.
The restaurant was opened in by LeGrande Serras, who six years ago transferred ownership to his daughter Aliki Serras, who, according to the Albany Business Review, left the business in 2016.
According to the Times Union, the building is now owned by Faith Takes, and is available for lease.
