COLONIE — Acting on a tip by a maintenance worker, police arrested a town man for growing marijuana and illegal possession of an assault rifle.



According to Sgt. George Thomaides, on Aug. 5 police were called to 354 Shaker Run after the maintenance worker, in the apartment to fix the air conditioning unit, spotted packaged marijuana, marijuana plants and the assault rifle in plain view.
A search warrant was executed and police found more than three pounds of pot along with the Rock River AR-15 semi-automatic rifle.
Johnny Williams, 38, was placed under arrest and charged with four felonies related to the weapon and a felony criminal possession of marijuana and unlawfully growing cannabis, a misdemeanor.
He was arraigned in Colonie Town Court and a preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 6:30 p.m.
