COLONIE — An Ohio man was arrested for DWAI by drugs after he ran off the road at the intersection of Wolf Road and Central Avenue.
According to Lt. Robert Donnelly, the 2010 Ford Explorer was headed south on Wolf Road at around 5:45 a.m. on Saturday, July 6 when it struck a light support pole and continued across Central Avenue, coming to rest in a small patch of woods adjacent to Northway Mall.
The driver, Walter Jones, 54, was taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital by Colonie EMS for treatment of facial lacerations.
The crash took down the light poles and live electrical wires and the eastbound lanes of Central Avenue were closed for about two hours while National Grid and the state Department of Transportation made repairs.
The Fuller Road Fire Department and the State Police assisted in closing the road and the Northway ramps.
Jones was charged with the misdemeanor of DWAI drugs and the violation of failure to stay in a single lane.
