BETHLEHEM — A 63-year-old math teacher in the Bethlehem Central School District was arrested on Thursday, March 14, for stalking a 19-year-old former student.
According to Cmdr. Adam Hornick, Michael Fredette, of Glenmont, engaged in an “on-going course of conduct involving contact with the victim, showing up at the victim’s residence and place of employment and sending items to the victim.”
At this time there is no indication that any of the incidents took place on school property or when the victim was a student Hornick said. There is also no indication, at this time, that any type of similar behavior was directed at any current student or students.
Bethlehem worked with the school district during the investigation, Hornick said.
“The safety and well-being of our students is our number one priority,” said Superintendent Jody Monroe in a statement on the district website. “If students or parents want to discuss this matter, they are encouraged to contact my office at 518-439-7098.”
Fredette is charged with the misdemeanor of stalking in the fourth degree.
Bethlehem Police are requesting that anyone with information in regards to this case to call 518-439-9973.
