TROY — While Judy’s Beauty Salon has been open for five decades, it never faltered with delivering reasonably-priced services to its customers. Age knows no boundaries here as it welcomes anyone, ranging from young children to seniors.
Located on 2 Bloomingrove Drive in Troy, it is a half mile south of Hudson Valley Community College, so it also caters to college students, and they can get student discounts. New customers enjoy an introductory rate of $10 for cuts and $50 for perms, whereas the regular prices are $15-20 and $75 respectively. Other services and features include fashion coloring, mustache and eyebrow waxing, hair extensions, frizzy hair treatment, and doing hair highlights.
Longtime owner Judy Wood brought up one example where since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, they offer pink hair highlights to be part of the cause.
This unisex salon is open on Mondays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Tuesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Wood also said it maintains its loyal clientele by being supported by good word of mouth, “When someone around town sees someone else with good hair, they typically ask and the person recommends us. Plus, we have friendly staff and experienced stylists that are exceptional in their everyday work here.”
She added that the salon keeps up with the latest hairstyle trends and uses “the number one top-of-the-line products. We use no generic products here.”
Judy’s Beauty Salon is about to be remodeled too soon so that “it would have a totally new look. Maybe one way to describe it is that it will look uptown or whatever better word for ‘modern’ is.”
