Kinderhook Bank is celebrating 165 years of building strong customer relationships! Since 1853, it has earned the trust of the community members it serves by consistently delivering excellent customer service.
“In addition to our long-standing presence in the greater Capital Region and being headquartered in Columbia County, we now have three branches in the Mohawk Valley in Amsterdam, Johnstown and Canajoharie,” said John A. Balli, President and CEO. “We’re a small community bank that continues to grow each year, as does our commitment to our community.”
Balli was recently asked what makes Kinderhook Bank different from other local banks. “We bring a personal touch to banking that disappeared years ago,” he said. “Our employees are a part of our communities, and have a genuine concern for our customers because they are also neighbors. This has been the driver of our growth — people have grown tired of being treated like nameless commodities at other banks,” he added.
The November 2017 merger with former Patriot Federal Bank brought Kinderhook Bank’s total assets to nearly $620 million, which have since grown to $637 million as of June 30, 2018. The merger also expanded the Bank’s branch locations from eight to eleven.
The commitment to community is also demonstrated by the dedication of the bank staff. Shoham Piorentino, Alicia Gonzalez, Matt Wiseman and Monofer Usman, all Assistant Vice Presidents & Branch Managers in the Capital Region, have a total combined experience of over 64 years in banking! Now with 112 full and part-time employees in five Capital District counties, the bank continues to put customer service and building relationships first!
Growing commercial and small business relationships
Kinderhook Bank has also built a reputation as a strong and growing commercial lender, including commercial real estate and small business loans. The commercial lending team, led by Lee Carman, Senior Vice President, is making access to capital available for many local businesses facing the challenges of financing their growth. The commercial lending team also includes Ann Finnegan, Frank Trosset, Kevin Catalano and Josh Cukerstein.
Ann Finnegan, VP Finance Development, heads up small business and government guaranteed lending programs since joining Kinderhook Bank in 2010. She looks for solid, young businesses that need access to capital, and then works to help them achieve their business dreams!
Finnegan said, “Customers seek us out because of our reputation and we are thrilled to be known as a community bank who works to find good financing solutions for small businesses.”
Kelly Bailey, AVP & Residential Lending Sales Manager, who joined Kinderhook Bank in February this year, has more than 20 years of local banking experience. “We help customers find the right residential financing program that fits their current budget and their specific needs. Whether they are interested in getting a better interest rate on an existing mortgage, buying and financing a piece of land, financing an investment property purchase, or building a new home, we find the right home loan program for them,” said Bailey.
Kinderhook Bank is pet-friendly and people-friendly! People can visit any branch and relax, enjoy a free cup of coffee and cookies and bring their pets in as well, to have a treat. They even receive a free Kinderhook Bank leash while supplies last. People love to bring their pets wherever they go – even to do their banking.
