GUILDERLAND — A town man was arrested for DWAI by drugs after he crashed his 2016 Ford Fusion into a State Police cruiser.
On Monday, Oct. 8, the trooper was travelling on Western Avenue near Schoolhouse Road when Joshua Maxwell-Tew sideswiped his car.
Maxwell-Tew was evaluated by a State police drug recognition expert and found to be impaired.
He was charged with DWAI by drugs and criminal possession of a controlled substance after troopers found Xanax in his possession. Xanax contains the depressant Alprazolam.
Maxwell-Tew’s passenger, 20-year-old Zachary Bemis, of Altamont, is also charged with having Xanax in his possession as well as unlawful possession of marijuana.
Both men were slated to re-appear in Guilderland Town Court on Oct. 25.
