COLONIE – The Garnet Raiders girls soccer team fought off a late-game rally by Schenectady to win its home opener 4-3.
Ianah Mackey scored two goals for the Raiders while Alexis Abel and Kayla Novak added a goal each. Madison Knowles and Eliza Zehnder each had an assist.
For Schenectady, Audrey Canty, Yasmine Jackson and Naudia Lockett scored a goal while Abby Brown and Alexis Maye had an assist each.
Colonie (1-0) will travel to Columbia and Schenectady (0-1) will host Shen on Thursday, Sept. 6.
